Dutch Open Government Act

As national accreditation body of the Netherlands, openness, transparency and accessibility are key to the RvA and the value of accreditation. We believe it is important to provide insight into who we are and what we do. As a national accreditation body, we also have an important legal responsibility in this area. The Dutch Open Government Act (Woo) encourages transparency and accessibility for the Dutch government and organisations with a public responsibility in the Netherlands.

What is a Woo information request?

The Dutch Open Government Act allows anyone to make a request to the Dutch government to disclose public information. A request must cover information that is not already public. A request to the RvA must further cover:

  • Information laid down in documents;
  • Information available at the RvA;
  • Information related to the RvA’s public responsibility.

Please note: the RvA only discloses documents in the language they were originally written in. The RvA does not provide translated documentation.

Review Woo information request

The RvA is obliged to comply with Woo information requests, except where there are legal exceptions. If you submit a Woo request, the RvA will check whether any exceptions apply. Subsequently, the RvA will make a formal decision on the disclosure of information and notify you of that decision. After a positive decision, you will receive your requested documents within a few weeks in most instances.

Response time

The RvA will decide within four weeks whether to grant a Woo information request. If the request is unclear or relates to information that may affect other parties (e.g. accredited institutions), a temporary suspension of the deadline may be necessary. For extensive or complex requests, the deadline may additionally be extended by two weeks.
