Exploring Utrecht
Welcome to Utrecht! To get to know the city a bit more where you will be staying, we have put together a few highlights that Utrecht has to offer. You can visit these highlights yourself if you have a bit of spare time.

Exploring the city by yourself
There are a few spots in Utrecht that are worth seeing and won’t take up a lot of your time. You can even take a stroll after dinner if you want to.
- De Dom toren – Standing proudly at 112 meters, the Dom Tower is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands and the beating heart of Utrecht. Climb it’s 465 steps for stunning panoramic views, hear the historic bells chime, and step into 700 years of Gothic grandeur. A must-see landmark you’ll never forget!
- De Domkerk – Right next to the iconic Dom Tower, the Dom Church is a breathtaking Gothic cathedral with roots dating back to the 13th century. Wander through its peaceful halls, admire the soaring arches and stained glass, and feel centuries of Dutch history come alive in this sacred space.
- Pandhof van de Dom – Hidden between the Dom Tower and the Dom Church lies this fairytale-like medieval cloister garden. With Gothic arches, fragrant herbs, and quiet benches, the Pandhof is the perfect place to catch your breath and soak up centuries of silence and beauty.
- De Oudegracht – Stroll along the medieval wharf cellars (werfkelders), now home to cafés, boutiques, and galleries right by the water.
- Pandhof Sinte Marie – Tucked away behind ancient walls, this serene medieval cloister garden is a quiet escape in the heart of the city. Once part of a grand Romanesque church, Pandhof Sinte Marie now blooms with herbs, flowers, and history – a perfect spot to pause, reflect, and snap the dreamiest photo.
- Miffy traffic lights – In Utrecht, even the traffic lights are cute. At select crossings, you’ll spot Miffy (Nijntje), the beloved bunny created by local illustrator Dick Bruna, guiding pedestrians with her iconic silhouette. A sweet surprise for kids and grown-ups alike! The closest one to the hotel is next to the entrance of the Bijenkorf.
- Maartensbrug – This charming stone bridge offers one of the best postcard views in Utrecht: the majestic Dom Tower rising above the old canals. Named after Saint Martin, the city’s patron, Maartensbrug is more than just a crossing – it’s a picture-perfect pause in the heart of the old town.
- Janskerkhof – Home to the historic St. John’s Church and shaded by old trees, Janskerkhof is a lively square that blends culture and charm. Visit on a Saturday for the flower market, or just relax at a café and watch Utrecht life go by.
