Pilot for accreditation of certification of AI management systems under ISO 42001
The RvA has started a pilot for management system certification according to ISO 42001, the international standard for AI management systems, in cooperation with three certification bodies.
The three participants expressed their interest to the RvA. Moreover, the certification bodies showed that they themselves had already made preparations to submit the accreditation application. Currently, the assessments are taking place. After completion of the assessments, including witnessing, the RvA will also accept applications from other interested parties. Certification bodies that are not participating in the pilot, but would like to be accredited for this standard, can prepare their application. A route for accreditation against this standard involves development costs. All three participants in the pilot pay an equal contribution to development costs. And CIs entering in the first two years after the pilot will pay a contribution of 1750 euros per certification body.
On 12 July 2024, the Artifical intelligence regulation (also known as AI Act), as developed by the European Commission, is published. The pilot for accreditation against ISO 42001 is separate from the implementation of the AI Act. While both are about AI, they are from a different perspective.
