Recently, the RvA published about the developments regarding CertSearch by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). The RvA has investigated the legal basis for mandatory participation of certification bodies in the CertSearch database and rejects obligatory participation.
Check whether your supplier is certified? Know whether a certification body is accredited? Or whether an accreditation body is a member of IAF? You can do so via IAF’s CertSearch database. The database gives substance to the motto: ‘Once accredited, accepted everywhere’.

The proposed amendment is an additional requirement in the context analysis, which includes an explicit requirement that companies have to determine whether climate change is a relevant issue.

On Friday 28 July, we launched a new version of the PRISMA Reporting Tool. In this version, clients can now create multiple user accounts for their organisations themselves. We are proud to have now realised this long-standing customer wish.

Today, March 7, the RvA launches the PRISMA Application Tool. With the launch of this tool, the RvA is committed to digitizing, optimizing and making the application process for a new accreditation or an extension more customer-friendly.

Good news! The Multilateral Agreement Council (MAC) of the EA (European co-operation for Accreditation) has decided, based on a positive recommendation from the EA peer review team, that the RvA meets the requirements of Regulation (EC) 765/2008 and the ISO/IEC and thus remains ES MLA signatory.
On June 7 and 9 we organized the first two of four RvA customer meetings. One for customers of laboratories ISO 17025 and a meeting for customers of medical laboratories ISO 15189. We are glad to meet our customers again after two years of Covid pandemic.

Surveys show: remote assessment at the expense of depth
On Wednesday 12 January, the RvA organized an online meeting about the IAF CertSearch database. About thirty certifying bodies participated. Matt Gantley, CEO of UKAS and leader of the IAF Certsearch Database, gave a presentation at our request.
This month, the RvA is distributing a survey among its clients of research initiative QI-FoKuS: Research on Conformity Assessment and Safety.
It is now possible for validation and verification bodies to apply to the RvA for accreditation to EN-ISO/IEC 17029. The RvA publishes various documents for this purpose.
Last year the RvA started the further digitalization of its business processes. To this end we are gradually developing various web applications such as the reporting tool. In this message we inform you about the state of affairs.

The RvA has changed a number of policies. These changes were made regarding the implementation of the EN-ISO/IEC 17029 standard and our reporting tool for accreditation assessments.
In order to set up the RvA working method in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17011, the RvA will assign new roles within RvA assessment teams as of 1 January 2022. This change also means an adjustment in the Fees and Charges decision 2022.
Since the restrictive measures due to the COVID pandemic took effect, the RvA has been conducting most of its assessments with the use of remote techniques. RvA wants to get a good picture of their views on remote assessment. Therefore, we have sent out a questionnaire.

As of 1 July 2021, the Ministry of Domestic Affairs (hereinafter The Ministry), as the Notifying Authority, will register the notifying bodies (NB) for the CPR in the NANDO* information system. The Dutch Accreditation Council will therefore discontinue their activities for NANDO as of 1 July. Accreditation remains the basis for notification.

Only European national accreditation bodies are allowed to grant accreditation within an EU Member State
On 12 November 2020, the RvA board has determined the RvA fees and charges for 2021.
RvA continuously monitors government and other external advice to assess possible risks related to the outbreak and spread of the Corona virus (Covid-19). As a result, RvA has taken, and will continue to take all necessary precautionary measures. These measures might impact assessments and meetings due to take place in affected areas.
On 13 November, representatives of the US Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) together with representatives of the Dutch Food & Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) visited the RvA. During this visit, the FDA representatives were informed about the accreditation system in the Netherlands in general and the accreditation of the NVWA laboratories in particular.
The new RvA Executive Board, Roeland Nieuweboer and Joep de Haas, started on 22 June 2019.
In August 2018 ISO has published the standard ISO 50001:2018 “Energy Management Systems – Requirements with guidance for use” as a revision of ISO 50001:2011. In its meetings in October 2018 the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) has decided about the transition arrangement for this revision.

On 14 December 2018, the RvA board has determined the RvA fees and charges for 2019.
In January and May 2018, a Peer Evaluation was conducted by an EA Peer Evaluation team at the RvA. The RvA has been evaluated by thirteen colleagues from other European accreditation bodies on competence, impartiality and independence. On October 3rd 2018, the EA MAC reported that the results of the Peer Evaluation were successful.

The European Coorperation for Accreditation (EA) has been recognised by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) to expand its signatory status to include Food Safety Management Systems, Information Security Management Systems Certification, Energy Management Systems and Medical Devices Quality Management Systems.

This report contains information regarding the EA MLA (Multi Lateral Agreement). The EA MLA serves as a framework to realise the objective ‘accredited once, accepted everywhere’).
During the 19th EA Horizontal Harmonization Committee (HHC) meeting on 6-7 March, Sjaak Hendriks (lead assessor RvA) was unanimously elected as HHC-vice chair. HHC is an important committee of EA and focusses on (among others) strenghtening the cooperation and harmonization between accreditation bodies in Europe
Peter van de Leemput, RvA-expert & lead assessor – acted as chair in the development of the very first version (1999) and the second version of the ISO 17025 norm for testing and calibrationlabs (2015). Peter (retired since 2016) has played a key rol in this process and was therefore honoured at the NEN-congress of March 8 where he was given the first Dutch translation of the latest version.

Once every four years national accreditation bodies subject each other to intensive assessments, known as peer reviews. A peer review is undertaken by colleagues from other European accreditation bodies. They check whether the body to be assessed meets the specific criteria and use international standard ISO/IEC 17011 and European Regulation 765/2008 as guidelines during that process.
